Quiet Moments in Spring

It's a Tuesday. It's a beautiful day.
The sky is so blue and clear on this Spring Day. The cherry blossoms are so beautiful as its pink and white petals enjoy the bath of sunshine. School is still on its Spring Break before the new school year starts by next week. Of course, it's also a working day.

But in this part of Yamato, it's so quiet and refreshing. I can hear the TV downstairs as one of our priests is taking his lunch by himself. I can hear some kids playing at the playground of the kindergarten they once went to some years ago. As for me, I am still in my room... packing my tihngs.

I am going to move by Saturday, April 5th, to Shizuoka Church. As for this matter, I believe I have to dwell on this on the coming blogs.

Today, 18 years ago, I made my vows of obedience, poverty and chastity as a Salesian in our novitiate chapel in Granada, Bacolod City. We were the first to do that in that chapel after we transferred some 5 months before that. It was a great day for me. It was really touching to truly offer yourself to God. Tears just naturally flow out of love and happiness. That was that day.

Ironically, our parents, family and friends were not around for that day. That was the reason they had to postpone giving us the cassock until a week after that. So that day was as simple as it was, as quiet as the sugarcane fields around our novitiate building.

Funny though that I feel the same quiet moments of 18 years ago today... here in Japan!
