SHIZUOKA

It's been a month and 4 days since I transferred over here at Shizuoka. Imagine me transferring from Laguna to Quezon Province, or maybe even farther.

Shizuoka is a Prefecture bound by the mountains in the north, west and east, and the sea at the south. I am presently in a church called Jonai Church... jonai in Japanese means "inside the castle". Yes, the church is standing in the castle grounds of the then Shizuoka Castle. This is the place where the famous Ieyasu Tokugawa grew up and was also his place of retirement after he abdicated the throne. The main castle grounds have become a park. There is no castle anymore. Only the Eastern Gate and the inner and outer moats remain. Between these two moats stand government buildings like the city hall, prefectural hall, city hospital, sports center, city cultural center and schools. Futaba Girls School is the only private (and Catholic!) school here. Beside it is the Catholic Church where I now live.
